President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is set to embark on a three-day official visit to the Republic of Korea on June 3–5, 2018 to further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the Philippines and South Korea.
During his official visit, the Chief Executive is scheduled to hold a summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in where they are expected to discuss furthering bilateral trade, defense and security cooperation, investments in infrastructure, information and communications technology (ICT), and tourism.
President Duterte will also meet and greet with the Filipinos working in South Korea and encourage the business community to expand commerce between the two countries. He is also set to lead the launching of a Filipino product in one of the biggest supermarket chains in South Korea.
This is the first official visit of President Duterte to the Republic of Korea. He is also said to be the first Head of State from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to visit South Korea since President Moon Jae-in took office last year.
