Marilyn Manalaysay came to South Korea in 2003 and worked as an English teacher in Korean schools until 2011. She then worked as a corporate English instructor until 2012 before the GS Engineering and Construction Corporation employed her as a Human Resources Assistant Manager wherein she is responsible for the recruitment of employees.

Currently, she is the only Filipino employed at the managerial level in South Korea.
