President Benigno S. Aquino III led the laying of the wreath at the monument of his mother, the late president Corazon Aquino, as part of the 26th anniversary celebration of the Edsa People Power Revolution.
In his statement, President Aquino said that to fully remember the heroes of EDSA, the Filipino people must continue to guard and protect their legacy of democracy.
“Ito po marahil ang hamon ni Ninoy at Cory sa atin ngayon: ang araw-araw na isapuso ang diwa ng EDSA People Power Revolution.Ngayon, matapos ang dalawampu’t anim na taon, malinaw na hindi pa rin tapos ang ating laban,” he said.

Vice President Jejomar Binay, together with Archbishop Antonio Tagle and Manila City Mayor Alfredo Lim, also led the unveiling of the statue of the late Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin earlier. It is located near the Cory and Ninoy Aquino Monuments.
