On the final day of his official visit to Washington, D.C, United States of America, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. offered a wreath before the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arlington National Cemetery on May 4, 2023.
The solemn ceremony honored the service, sacrifice and valor of Americans who defended and protected their country’s freedom.
One of Arlington’s most well-known memorials, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier includes the remains of unknown service members from World War I, World War II and the Korean War.
Arlington National Cemetery is the final resting place for more than 400,000 active duty service members, veterans and their families. Monuments, memorials and dedicated trees commemorating individuals and significant events in U.S. history are interspersed throughout the cemetery among the headstones.
