Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wraps up his Official Visit to the Philippines that strengthened the diplomatic relations between the country and the Commonwealth of Australia.

The Australian Prime Minister pays tribute to Dr. Jose. P. Rizal in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Rizal Park Monument in Manila in the morning of September 8, 2023 before his scheduled departure.

During his visit, he met with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in Malacañan Palace for a bilateral discussion that focused on advancing ties in various areas of mutual cooperation such as defense and security, trade, economic development and maritime affairs.

Australia and the Philippines hold a longstanding friendship built on mutual trust and cooperation. Beginning 1946, both nations have worked together in ensuring close partnership guided by the shared interest of building peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Albanese and President Marcos Jr. signed a joint declaration elevating the Australia-Philippines relations from a Comprehensive Partnership to a Strategic Partnership.
