On the second day of his visit, United States President Barack H. Obama went to the Manila American Cemetery to honor the fallen soldiers who fought in World War II.
Earlier in his speech at the Philippine Army Gym, President Obama mentioned that war veterans serve as an inspiration to their nation. He lauded Filipino and American soldiers who rendered immediate response the day after super typhoon ‘Yolanda’ struck Tacloban City last November.
The American Chief Executive is in the country as part of his ‘Pivot in Asia’ where he visited Japan, South Korea and Malaysia as well.
After paying his respects at the cemetery, President Obama will depart at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, thereby concluding his week-long Asian tour.
