Participation of President Benigno S. Aquino III
at the World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia

President Benigno S. Aquino III visits Nay Pyi Taw in Myanmar to participate in the 22nd World Economic Forum on East Asia on June 7.
Together with 900 participants from 55 countries, President Aquino is attending the forum with this year’s theme “Courageous Transformation for Inclusion and Integration”. His schedule includes a meeting with Union of the Republic of Myanmar President Thein Sein, Chairperson and General Secretary of the National League for Democracy in Burma Aung San Suu Kyi, other world officials, and Philippine businessmen.
During his attendance at the World Economic Forum, the President is expected to invite other international leaders for next year’s WEF on East Asia which will be hosted by the Philippines.
This gathering of global country heads is the first international event hosted by Myanmar after its transformation from a military control to a democratic state in 2011.
