President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was welcomed by Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang in a ceremony marking the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Dialogue with APEC leaders at the Furama Resort in Da Nang City, Vietnam.
It is expected that during the dialogue, the ABAC will be submitting its recommendations to the 21 APEC leaders focusing on supporting Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in accessing financial resources, science and technology, and digital advancements.
Likewise, the ABAC business leaders will highlight another two main issues — deeper regional integration and removal of protectionism and trade barriers to improve investment, and the vision for post-2020.
The ABAC was established in 1995 during the 3rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) in Japan to “uphold the role of the private sector in regional cooperation.” Currently, it has 63 members representing leading businesses in the region, with each APEC Member Economy entitled to three members in the council.
