Province of Dinagat Islands, Caraga Administrative Region
December 22, 2021

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte checked on the situation of his ‘kababayans’ affected by Typhoon ‘Odette’ (international name: Rai) when he visited the Province of Dinagat Islands in Region 13 or the Caraga Administrative Region (Caraga) in a continuation of his series of inspection in devastated areas.

The President, together with the government agencies concerned, extended assistance to the families and individuals distressed by the typhoon, as part of the government’s commitment to deliver immediate relief and rehabilitation efforts.

On the wake of ‘Odette’ — said to be the strongest typhoon to hit the Philippines this year, the Province of Dinagat Islands is among the localities in the Region that suffered severe wreckage resulting to damage of properties and infrastructures, and loss of lives.

In his regular Talk to the People held on 21 December 2021, President Duterte declared a ‘State of Calamity’ over six (6) regions including the Caraga Region to fast track the emergency response in affected communities.
