President Rodrigo Roa Duterte conferred the posthumous Order of Lapu-Lapu with the Rank of Kalasag to the five (5) killed Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Personnel during his wake visit at the Sto. Niño de Cebu Chapel located in Camp BGen. Gonzalo Siongco, Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao.
The five PDEA officers, identified as Vencio Ardepolla, Laurice Joy Amar, Diobel Pacino, Kenneth Capuno, and Kristine Mae Torlao, were killed in an ambush while their vehicle was traversing the highway of Barangay Malna in Kapai, Lanao del Sur on their way back to Marawi City.
Two (2) PDEA personnel were wounded, namely Rachelle Ann Gentapanan and Normina Dicay.
During the wake visit, President Duterte consoled the bereaved families of the killed officers. He also ordered PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino to assure that justice would be served to the victims and their families.
The group was attacked after attending an event in line with the Community Based Recovery and Wellness Program for the drug surrenderees in Tagoloan II in Lanao del Sur.
The killed PDEA officers were members of the PDEA Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) under PDEA Lanao del Sur Provincial Office-Team DELTA Marawi City.
