Cosmopolitan Memorial Chapels, Davao City

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited the wake of renowned photojournalist and presidential photographer Renato ‘Tatay Rene’ Lumawag at the Cosmopolitan Memorial Chapels in Davao City.

During the visit, President Duterte took time to talk with the family members and friends of Mr. Lumawag.

Tatay Rene was known as the lone photographer who chronicled President Duterte’s rise in politics since 1986. In 2016, he joined the Presidential Photographers Division under the Duterte administration.

Lumawag had been in the media industry for over three (3) decades and worked in various local papers in Davao City.

He died on July 1, 2019 after six (6) years of battling prostate cancer.
