President Benigno S. Aquino III visited the wake of Inquirer editor-in-chief Letty Jimenez-Magsanoc at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City.

Paying his respect to the woman who played a pivotal role to end the Marcos regime, the President uttered his silent prayer and was joined by his Cabinet members, namely Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Commission on Higher Education Chairperson Patricia Licuanan, Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma, Secretary to the Cabinet Rene Almendras, Senator Bam Aquino and Presidential Spokespersons Edwin Lacierda and Abigail Valte.

Letty Jimenez-Magsanoc is one of the founders of Inquirer that the President referred to as “keeper of the EDSA flame.” She was also known as the bedrock of free journalism, whose role was pivotal to the downfall of the Marcos dictatorship. She served the prestigious newspaper for 30 years, which earned her the title as the first woman and the longest serving editor-in-chief in a male-dominated newsroom.
