President Benigno S. Aquino III paid his last respects to the late Comedy King, Rodolfo Vera Quizon Sr. otherwise known as “Mang Dolphy” or “Pidol,” whose remains lies at the Heritage Park, Taguig City.
Upon his arrival, President Aquino and some of his Cabinet members prayed for the eternal rest of Mang Dolphy’s soul. He expressed his deepest condolences to Ms. Zsa Zsa Padilla, the Comedy King’s partner for twenty-three years, and to the whole Quizon clan for their loss.
Earlier, the President declared under Proclamation 433 that July 13 is a National Day of Remembrance to honor the memory of Dolphy. He recognized in the proclamation the vast contributions of Mr. Quizon in the Philippine entertainment industry.
Pidol died on July 10, 2012 at the age of 83 in Makati Medical Center after suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and multiple organ failure. The Comedy King is set to be interred on Sunday, July 15, 2012.
