President Rodrigo Roa Duterte consoled the bereaved families of the thirty-eight (38) NCCC Mall fire victims at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) on the evening of Christmas Day (December 25, 2017).
The SPMC designated a buffer area where the cadavers were temporarily placed for identification by the immediate families.
The President was briefed by the representatives of the key agencies involved in the operation and was updated on the process of the recovered bodies from the ill-fated establishment by SPMC’s Dr. Leopoldo Vega, Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) Major Florepes Pallado, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) National Director Dante Gierran, and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Regional Director Supt. Wilberto Rico Noel Ang Kwan Tiu.
Thereafter, the President proceeded to the third floor in one of the SPMC’s building and formally expressed his sentiments on the tragic incident in Davao City.
President Duterte and other key agency officials also took questions raised by the kins of the 38 fire victims.
The President left the SPMC compound after ten (10) cadavers were placed in the buffer room.
