President Benigno S. Aquino III visited the municipal hall of Casiguran, Aurora to personally check the condition of the province and its people after typhoon ‘Lando’ ravaged through central and northern Luzon.
The President took part in the ceremonial handing of relief goods containing sacks of rice, canned goods, and bottled waters, among others. He also attended a briefing on the measures that the government is implementing to ease the lives of the families affected by the typhoon.
Also present in the briefing were Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson, Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Dinky Soliman, Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento, Education (DepEd) Secretary Armin Luistro, Health (DOH) Secretary Janette Garin, Agriculture (DA) Secretary Proceso Alcala and Senator Sonny Angara who hails from the province..
Aurora was the first province to be hit by typhoon ‘Lando’ when it made landfall on 17 October 2015 (Saturday). Despite taking the full force of the typhoon, resulting to almost 93% of households damaged or destroyed, the province only recorded two casualties.
