President Benigno S. Aquino III led the traditional Vin D’Honneur in Malacanan Palace to celebrate the 114th Philippine Independence Day.

In his message during the ceremonial toast, President Aquino said that this year’s celebration marks the nation’s freedom with renewed hope and optimism as the promises of reform and hard work are becoming more tangible.

“Today, we renew our commitment to work for the good of the country. And it falls on us –from those of us in the government to our countrymen on the streets of our cities– to work together so we can realize our shared goals,” the President said.

President Aquino also called for cooperation, especially with members of the diplomatic corps to work closely with the government in realizing the fullest potential of the Filipino people.

“In a world where the challenges of today may compel nations to look inwards – Let us resolve to work together in amity and in peace,” he also said during the toast.

The event was attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps, Cabinet members and top government officials in the country.
