Today’s segment of USWAG, Pinas! Special Edition highlights the vaccination rollout for minors aged 12-17, with priority given to children with comorbidities. The inoculation of minors in the Davao Region started on October 29, 2021.
Vaccination of the A3 Pediatric Category was launched to prepare these children, who are mostly students, for the resumption of face-to-face classes, as well as to keep them protected against the severe effects of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The Davao Region health officials cited the importance of vaccinating the minors because some of the cases involving them were acquired from the households. Also, inoculating the young ones will ensure the safety, growth and future of the children.
Derived from the Bisayan term ‘uswag’ which means progress, this special edition of the social media program aims to inform viewers about the ongoing mass immunization in different communities across the nation, the tireless efforts of healthcare workers and medical frontliners in battling the public health crisis, and interviews from inoculated Filipinos and medical experts on the benefits of getting the jab to further boost vaccine confidence amongst the people.
USWAG, Pinas! Special Edition is a flagship program of the Presidential Broadcast Staff – Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM).
