President Benigno S. Aquino III was given a tour at the Imperial War Museum (IWM) of London which houses some of the most important weapons and vehicles of the twentieth century including a Spitfire that saw action in the Battle of Britain.

IWM London tells the stories of people, especially those involving Britain and the Commonwealth, whose lives have been shaped by war from the First World War up to the present day.  The museum explores how the history of modern conflict affects mankind, from the front line to the home front, and encourages the study and understanding of the history of modern war and ‘wartime experience.’

The museum has six floors of exhibitions and displays ranging from tanks and aircraft to photographs and personal letters, some of the twentieth century’s best-known paintings, as well as film and sound recordings.

This week’s exhibit is about ‘A Family in Wartime’ gallery which tells the story of how ordinary people braved the challenges of life at home during the Second World War.  It features a model house of the Allpress family and brings to life the family’s courage, duty and determination during the Second World War.
