The Participation of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in the
World Economic Forum on ASEAN 2017
Phnom Penh, Cambodia
May 10-12, 2017
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte embarks on his second visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia, this time to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) from May 10-12, 2017.
The President is one of the more than 700 leaders from business, government, civil society and media set to participate in the forum that will “focus on how the region can harness the potential of a young demographic, as well as the transformative impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, to foster inclusive economic growth.”
This is the first time that Cambodia will host the WEF on ASEAN with the theme, ‘Youth, Technology and Growth: Securing ASEAN’s Digital and Demographic Dividends.’ Now on its 26th year, the forum will be an “ideal platform for senior decision-makers from a range of sectors to work on shaping the brightest future for the region’s young.”
The WEF on ASEAN this year is significant as the ten countries comprising the region celebrate its 50th founding anniversary on August 8. The Philippines is the current chair of the 30th and 31st ASEAN Leaders’ Summit and Related Meetings.
