President Benigno S. Aquino III led the awarding ceremonies of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) at the Rizal Hall of Malacañan Palace.

From the 30 national finalists who were recognized for their excellence in professionalism, leadership and service, ten students emerged as the TOSP 2012 awardees. They are John Michael Dellariarte (Ateneo de Zamboanga University), Angelita Bombarda (De La Salle University), Kenneth Isaiah Abante (Ateneo de Manila University), Jerome David (De La Salle University-Manila), Daniel Philip Dy (Ateneo de Naga University), Jay-R Mesa Mendoza (University of Rizal System-Morong Campus), Ruthell Moreno (West Visayas State University), Maria Janua Polinar (Central Mindanao University), Kurt Gerrard See (De La Salle University-Manila), and Juan Carlo Tejano (University of the Philippines-Diliman).

In his message, the Chief Executive said they should “be a man for others” and share what they have learned to those who are not fortunate to have their knowledge and expertise.

“Binigyan ka ng maraming biyaya ng Diyos, binigyan ka ng pagkakataon. Anong gagawin mo sa pagkakataon na ito? Tayo ba ay tutungo sa pangsarili natin o pwede tayo tumingin sa kapakanan ng ating kapwa,” he said.

The President also said that they must help each other and help their countrymen to push the nation’s progress and development.

“Maraming pagsubok sa mga darating na panahon, magtiwala kayo sa Diyos, magtiwala kayo sa mga nag-aaruga sa inyo para umabot kayo sa inyong tagumpay ngyaon at magtiwala kayo sa galing ng Pilipino,” said the President as he ended his message.

The search for the most outstanding students in the country is a joint effort of RFM Foundation, with the cooperation of the Commission on Higher Education, and National Bookstore among others.
