Following his engagement in Cabadbaran City in the province of Agusan Del Norte, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte proceeded to a visit at the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) Advance Command Post and talked to the troops of the Tactical Operations Group (TOG) Region X and the 401st Brigade in Barangay Bancasi, Butuan City.

“I personally came here to show support and express my most sincere gratitude for the heroism of our soldiers. I recognize the efforts of our troops here at Camp Bancasi, in combatting insurgence in your area of operation,” said the President in his keynote address, speaking before some 260 soldiers and other invited guests.

He also thanked the troops for their contribution to put an end to the illegal drug trade in the country, adding that the military also serves as inspiration to their countrymen to actively participate in nation-building.

“Securing our nation’s peace and security, especially in these trying times is indeed a formidable task… By raising awareness among our people about their roles in the society, we shall be able to help achieve our aspirations of real and lasting change,” President Duterte said.

At the end of his speech, the Commander-in-Chief called on all the soldiers present to continue performing their duties to the country, especially as Martial Law remains in effect in Mindanao. “Remember the valor and patriotism of your fellow soldiers who offered their lives for the country,” he ended.

Prior to the program proper, President Duterte inspected a static display of recovered firearms. He also led an awarding ceremony to outstanding military officers.

Before leaving the camp, President Duterte joined the troops in a boodle fight also at the 4ID Advance Command Post.
