President Benigno S. Aquino III led the switch-on ceremony for the electrification of sitios in Central Luzon under the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) of the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Electrification Administration (NEA), held in the province of Nueva Ecija.
In his speech, the President shared that a total of 31,862 sitios or around 98.2% of government’s target have already been energized. In Central Luzon alone, 1,199 sitios are given electricity, which translates to 100% of the target.
“Itong Sitio Electrification Program po, bahagi lang ng malawakan nating stratehiya upang bigyang liwanag ang kinabukasan ng ating mga Boss,” he said.
Among the energized sitios, 266 are in Aurora, 465 in Tarlac, 272 in Nueva Ecija, 68 in Pampanga, 44 in Bataan, and 84 in Zambales.
“Napakalayo na nga po ng ating narating; at hindi ito magiging posible kung hindi tayo nagtiwala at nagtulungan. Sa ating pagkakaisa, marami pa tayong makakamit, at pihadong maaabot pa natin ang mas matatayog pang tagumpay,” President Aquino added.
On the sidelines, Nueva Ecija takes prides in its small and medium entrepreneurs registered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Some of the showcased products during the event consisted of herbal capsules, tomato sweets, calamansi puree, carabao milk, turmeric, handcrafted slippers, and smoked meat.
