President Benigno S. Aquino III’s Participation
at the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit

President Benigno S. Aquino III is set to visit Japan to participate at the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit that will be held in Tokyo on December 14, 2013. Discussions will focus on political and security cooperation, economy and people-to-people challenges, regional and international issues as well as on the Medium-to-Long Term Vision on ASEAN-Japan Friendship.
Aside from attending the summit, the President will also be meeting with the Filipino community. On his second day, he will have a working lunch and bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. He is the only Head of State among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) leaders who was invited for a meeting with the Prime Minister. Various agreements will also be signed by the two governments.
President Aquino will also meet with Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko and will have a series of business meetings. At the Sophia University, President Aquino will be conferred an Honorary Doctoral Degree.
