State Visit of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte
to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
April 10-12, 2017
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will embark on a State Visit to Saudi Arabia from April 10 to 12 aimed at improving the working conditions of Filipinos in the kingdom, strengthening economic cooperation and enticing Saudi Arabia investors to come to the Philippines.
Among the highlights of President Duterte’s trip include a meeting with His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and also with Saudi Arabia’s high-ranking ministers.
The President and Saudi leaders will discuss issues of mutual interest for the Philippines and Saudi Arabia.
One of the agreements to the signed during the trip of the President is the agreement on the establishment of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia and the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The bilateral labor agreement between the Department of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of Saudi Arabia will also be signed.
Also, the Foreign Service Institute under the DFA will also have an agreement with its counterpart in Saudi Arabia.
The President will also meet the Filipino community in Saudi Arabia to conclude his state visit to the kingdom.
There are close to 900,000 documented Filipinos living or working in Saudi Arabia based on the figures of the Saudi Ministry of Interior. They are categorized as skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers.
