President Benigno S. Aquino III welcomed President Enrique Peña Nieto of the United Mexican States at the Malacañan Palace, on his State Visit to the Philippines.

The two leaders witnessed the signing of several agreements that would foster the relations between the Philippines and Mexico.
Among the signed documents were: the Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion; the Memorandum of Understanding concerning Cooperation on Combating Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotric Substances, their Analogues, Precursor Chemicals or Preparations Containing them; and the Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation between the Department of Tourism of the Philippines and the Secretariat of Tourism of the United Mexican States.
President Aquino acknowledged the history and culture shared by the Philippines and Mexico. He also hoped that the Mexican President would see that “It is more fun in the Philippines”.
On the other hand, President Nieto lauded the Filipino hospitality and was looking forward to having stronger ties with the Philippines. His visit is the third State Visit to the country of a Mexican Head of State.
