Dining Hall, Istana Negara
September 9, 2016

Donning a traditional Indonesian batik, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graced a state banquet hosted by Indonesian President Joko Widodo at Istana Negara in Jakarta.

President Duterte proposed a toast for the good health of President Widodo and imparted his gratitude to the Indonesian people. He affirmed their respective government’s fight against illegal drugs.

The President also recalled in his remarks the oil crisis that hit the Philippines in 1972. He stressed that he wanted all Filipinos to remember that Indonesia had made a strong statement to its neighboring country during that time.

“Do not worry, you will have your oil and you will continue to progress.”

The state banquet was the last engagement of the President before he formally ended his working visit to the Republic of Indonesia from September 8-9, 2016.
