Saint Peter’s Basilica – the mother church of the Roman Catholic faith and the largest church in Christendom. It is also the resting place of former popes like John Paul II and Saint Peter, founder of the Catholic Church and its first pope. Its impressive dome is the focal point of Rome’s cityscape. During religious holidays such as Christmas and Easter, the pope performs special masses at the basilica.
