President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. engaged in a discussion with the local chief executives of Pampanga and key officials of regional line agencies to address flooding and provide long-term solutions during a situation briefing at the Provincial Capitol in San Fernando, Pampanga.
Among the topics discussed were the possible water impounding of San Antonio and Candaba swamps, dredging and desilting projects, and the elevation of San Simon Bridge, among others.
The President assured the local chief executives that the national government is committed in providing all necessary assistance to mitigate the effects of widespread flooding and to provide long-term solutions as the country braces for the inevitable effects of climate change.
In the same event, local chief executives of all 22 towns of Pampanga received a check varying between PhP2 million and PhP1 million, depending on the severity of the flood situation, from the Office of the President.
Likewise, the Office of the President handed over a check worth PhP15 million to the Provincial Government of Pampanga which was received by Provincial Governor Dennis Pineda.
Moreover, the Province of Pampanga received a certificate worth PhP21.67 million. This certificate includes 13,354 bags of certified rice seeds valued at PhP20.2 million for 8,723 farmer-beneficiaries, 186 bags of hybrid yellow corn and 15 bags of open pollinated variety worth PhP1.146 million for 154 farmer-beneficiaries, and assorted vegetable seeds worth PhP230,000 for 162 farmer-beneficiaries.
