President Rodrigo Roa Duterte met with senior officials of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police and the Philippine Coast Guard from Zamboanga City at the WESTMINCOM Headquarters in Camp Navarro to discuss counter-terrorism efforts of the government against the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).

The command conference on the latest security updates and the government’s operational tactics followed after a series of kidnappings and terror threats that happened in Sulu and Basilan.

Accompanied by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, President Duterte was briefed each one by Lt. Gen. Mayoralgo Dela Cruz, Commander of WESTMINCOM; RAdm. Jeorge Amba, Commander of the Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi; BGen. Ariel Dela Vega, Commander of the Joint Task Force Sulu; Col. Juvymax Uy, Commander of the Joint Task Force Zamboanga; and MGen. Gerardo Barrientos, Commander of the Joint Task Force Zamboanga Peninsula-Lanao (ZAMPELAN).
