“A good education is a valuable gift that we can proudly pass on to succeeding generations of Filipinos,” said President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as he led the simultaneous inauguration of school buildings at the Gen. Gregorio H. Del Pilar Integrated School and Virginia Ramirez-Cruz High School.
“It’s a nice feeling to be back. I remember I was campaigning and we had a very limited time, we’re always in a hurry. But I made the promise sa inyo, taga-Bulacan, that there will rise itong mga national high schools para sa mga anak niyo,” said President Duterte, recalling his last visit to Barangay Sta. Ana in Bulakan, Bulacan on January 2019 when both projects officially started.
The Chief Executive likewise recognized the roles of the Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the planning and construction of the school buildings.
“Your collective efforts in these projects have been crucial in creating a more conducive, inclusive and resilient learning environment for Filipino students of Bulacan,” he told the DepEd and DPWH officials present in the ceremony.
Furthermore, he expressed his genuine gratitude towards the local government units (LGUs) and stressed that the national government remains focused on ramping up its efforts with the COVID-19 Vaccination Program to ensure the safety of the students before the resumption of face-to-face classes.
The construction of school buildings at the Gen. Gregorio Del Pilar Integrated School involved two (2) units of 4-storey with 24 classrooms and one (1) unit of 4-storey with 12 classrooms, including ground improvement such as jet grouting and an additional embankment. The additional school buildings aim to decongest established secondary schools in Bulakan, Bulacan from overpopulation.
On the other hand, the construction of Pandi National High School, which will serve as an extension of the Virginia Ramirez-Cruz High School, houses four (4) units of 4-storey with 20 classrooms and an additional embankment. The former shall also provide the opportunity to reduce the latter’s heightened number of students.
“I truly appreciate the patience and understanding of the learners, the parents and teachers in your locality,” the Chief Executive expressed.
