Istana Main Building, Singapore

President Benigno S. Aquino III met with Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng Yam at the Istana right after receiving a courtesy call paid by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on the first day of his two-day working visit in Singapore.

After signing the guestbook, the President and his delegation was hosted to a lunch by President Tan and members of his Cabinet.

In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda described the atmosphere of the luncheon as something that was very light and informal. According to him, President Aquino was relaxed when he made small talks and shared funny stories that were mostly about his experiences as a Philippine politician.

During the luncheon, Singaporean Ambassador to the Philippines V.P. Hirubalan also raised the topic about the approval ratings of the President. There was a very interesting discussion about the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey on the national administration, particularly on disaster response, and the different survey methodology of SWS and Pulse Asia in the Philippines.
