On his 65th birthday, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. signed an Executive Order (EO) for the Moratorium on the Annual Amortization of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries at the Heroes Hall in Malacañan Palace.

During his first State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Marcos Jr. said he would issue an executive order that will impose a one-year moratorium on amortization and interest payments to help unburden farmers, enabling them to focus on growing their farms and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

According to the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), this measure is expected to benefit 654,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries. It aims to amend Section 26 of Republic Act No. 6657 or the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Law to give farmers a breathing space from their loans.
