The third session of the conference focused on the development and initiatives on attracting and encouraging insurance firms and pension funds to expand their investment in emerging market infrastructure. The chair of the session was Dr. Julius Caesar Parreñas, coordinator of the Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Partnership and Asia-Pacific Financial Forum and senior advisor of Nomura Securities, Co., Ltd.

The meeting on the “Overview of Capital Market Development and Integration in the Asia-Pacific Region”, chaired by Securities and Exchange (SEC) Commissioner Ephyro Luis Amatong, centered on the efforts in promoting capital market development and identifying the areas where the FMP can be a factor in fast-tracking the partnership among agencies, international organizations and the private sector.

Nicholas de Boursac, Chief Executive Officer of Pennridge, headed the discussion on “Improving the Depth and Liquidity of Asia-Pacific Capital Markets” which concentrated on discussing relevant issues on expanding the role of long-term institutional investors and dealing with various difficulties in order to develop repo and derivatives markets.
