President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. discussed concerns on Missionary Electrification with officials from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Power Corporation (NPC) in a meeting at the State Dining Room in Malacañan Palace.
The President urged concerned government agencies to utilize new and available technologies to maximize the use of renewable energy such as solar energy in remote places that need power sources. Apart from this, he orders the expansion of the country’s National Grid as he approves the inter-island connection of Palawan and Mindoro Islands to address electricity problems.
In keeping with the Administration’s goal of achieving energy resilience across the nation, the Chief Executive pushed for all forms of renewable energy to be more holistic in outlook, in order to support power not just to households, but to support inclusive growth of industries located in rural areas and throughout the countryside.
The Missionary Electrification, as discussed by DOE, pertains to the power generation and associated delivery systems function of NPC, which consist of providing basic electricity services in areas that are not connected to the transmission system.
