President Duterte also inspected a display of 2,649 loose firearms that were surrendered by civilians to the military and police through the facilitation of local authorities from Lanao Del Sur and Lanao Del Norte.

Prior to this, President Duterte met with the surrenderers in a private meeting, where he made a commitment to help them by allocating funds to distribute land properties to the Maranaos, as well as to provide them the capability to start their own business.

Moreover, the surrenderers are set to visit the Chief Executive in Malacañang after the Barangay and SK elections on May 14. This is an opportunity provided by President Duterte for them to air their grievances in an aim to achieve peace.
