President Rodrigo Roa Duterte appealed for peace to around 200 former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) during his visit in Cataingan, Masbate.

The President assured the former NPA rebels presented before him that the government would provide support for their families to start anew, and vowed that they would be given security and protection.

During the program, President Duterte led the ceremonial distribution of assistance to the former rebels and supporters in attendance. He also viewed a gallery of firearms consisting of turned-over weapons from the former rebels, majority of whom hail from the municipalities of Aroroy and Claveria in the province of Masbate.
