President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. received the letter of credence from His Excellency Chanaka Harsha Talpahewa, Resident Ambassador-Designate of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Philippines, in a ceremony in Malacañan Palace.

As he presents his credentials, Ambassador-Designate Talpahewa conveyed his commitment to work towards further strengthening the warm and friendly relations between Sri Lanka and the Philippines.

In response, the Chief Executive warmly welcomed the Sri Lankan envoy and expressed his hopes for the continuing development of their two nations’ partnership.

The Philippines and Sri Lanka celebrated 61 years of diplomatic relations in January 2022. President Marcos Jr. first met with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe during a courtesy call in Malacañan Palace in September of the same year.
