President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. received the credential letters of Her Excellency Megawati Dato Paduka Haji Manan, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Philippines, in a ceremony at the Reception Hall in Malacañan Palace.
In her message, the Ambassador expressed enthusiasm with the celebration of another milestone between Brunei and the Philippines, as both countries are set to celebrate its 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2024. She also highlighted the opportunity to deepen the cooperative partnership in other areas such as the halal food industries and tourism.
“During my tenure in office, I will do my utmost to foster and deepen this bond, building on similarities and enhancing complementarities to serve the strategic interest of our two countries,” said the Ambassador.
For his part, President Marcos Jr. recognized the long-standing partnership between Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines in all areas of bilateral relations. He also recognized Brunei’s generosity and kindness especially in extending its help during times of crisis.
Ambassador Manan previously served as Director of the Department of Multilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as Governor for Brunei Darussalam in the Asia-Europe Foundation’s (ASEF) Board of Governors, and National Coordinator for the Masterplan on Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Connectivity 2025.
