President Benigno S. Aquino III led the 17th Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Conferment Ceremony held at Rizal Hall, Malacañan Palace.

Three companies were awarded with the PQA Recognition for Proficiency in Quality Management (Level 2) namely, ROHM Electronics Philippines, Inc., SMC Yamamura Fuso Molds Corporation, and STMicroelectronics, Inc.

Likewise, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) — Region II, Colegio de San Juan de Letran — Manila and Lyceum of the Philippines, Laguna were conferred with the PQA Recognition for Commitment to Quality Management (Level 1).

In his speech, President Aquino lauded the companies, universities and the lone government agency for their achievements and continuous improvement in the quality of their service.

“Today, we are recognizing more than just financial or operational decisions that have paid off. We are recognizing your pursuit of quality in the most profound sense of the word – because it does not only mean a stronger institution, a larger share in the market, or a higher quality of performance, but an infinite higher quality of life for more Filipinos,” he said.

As the highest award that can be received by any Philippine organization, PQA is a national excellence program that aims to encourage both public and private organizations, as well as other stakeholders, to strive for and attain performance excellence.
