President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recognized the hardships of ordinary Filipinos and vowed to maintain government efforts in realizing its dream of social and economic transformation as the Philippine Government laid down its Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 — a comprehensive roadmap for deep economic and social transformation to reinvigorate job creation and accelerate poverty reduction by steering the economy towards high-growth path.
“Those of us in this very room can talk about economic policies, big numbers, and chunks of data with no end. But the life of the ordinary Filipino is more than just a number in the realm of data and statistics. It is something that is deeply personal. It is something that requires action,” said the President in his keynote speech during the PDP 2023-2028 Forum.
On 27 January 2023, President Marcos Jr. signed Executive Order No. 14 directing all national government agencies (NGAs), government owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), government financial institutions (GFIs), local government units (LGUs), and state universities and colleges (SUCs) to “adopt and disseminate the PDP 2023-2028 and undertake efforts leading to its full implementation.”
For its timely finalization, President Marcos Jr. expressed his deepest gratitude to the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) for toiling hard and setting the roadmap for the Philippine’s development.
“This document represents not only our aspirations as a people but also our resolve to build a nation that we can all be truly proud of. These are truly bold plans but I have the confidence in the brilliant minds who will become our partners in realizing the vision contained in this document and faith in the capacity of our people,” he added.
The Chief Executive pledged to continue his Administration’s drive to digitalization, job-generation, upskilling of labor force, and partnership between national and local government, among other priorities.
“After all, the success of our government and our nation lies in all of us working together — we need to cooperate and collaborate so we can realize our goals moving forward,” he ended.
