“Never surrender to any forms of temptation that will taint your integrity,” conveyed President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as he called on all the newly elected officers of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) to inhibit from corrupt practices and uphold transparency and accountability in the performance of their duties.
During his keynote address at the PCL National Convention 2023 held in Pasay City, where he also led the oath-taking of the League’s national and island officers, the Chief Executive urged them and the rest of the officials present to avoid all forms of unjust and dangerous acts that will put the bureaucracy in a “state of decay”.
“I enjoin you to focus on tasks that are beneficial to the people and push for concrete ways that will address the needs of every sector of our society,” he imparted.
Furthermore, the President expressed his hopes for the PCL to support the passage of the Administration’s legislative priorities, particularly the measures that aim to capacitate local government units (LGUs), and encouraged them to continue bringing the government closer to the people by formulating programs, projects and activities that will nurture their well-being.
“Please be assured that this Administration is one with you in formulating, implementing, and coordinating programs and projects that are beneficial to the PCL and of course, to the Filipino people,” he ended in his message.
This year’s gathering carried the theme, ‘Commencing Digital Information and Communications Technology for Nationwide Policy Development’, that highlighted the following activities: download the League’s plans and programs for 2023 and beyond; discuss possible partnerships with different national government agencies (NGAs) and public-private stakeholders; and conduct legislative technical sessions.
As a local government association with a large constituency, the PCL stands at the forefront of contemporary and emerging trends in local administration and development to help improve the quality of life of all Filipinos through effective local legislation. (https://pcl.bulacan.gov.ph/index.php)
