President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the distribution of the certificates of land ownership to farmer-beneficiaries in a ceremony at the Municipality of Mulanay in Quezon province.
In his keynote address, the President shared his talk with Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary John Castriciones about the inclusion of agricultural lands (farm lots) in the department’s land reform program.
“I want to resume land reform because it is really needed… I do not see any reason bakit ‘di natin ‘to magagawa,” he said.
The certificates distributed during the event were those in compliance with the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) covering Hacienda Matias in San Francisco, Quezon. Present were the representatives who received the said land titles on behalf of nearly 400 farmer-beneficiaries.
President Duterte also discussed the ongoing rehabilitation of Boracay Island in Aklan, adding that he is not in favor of converting it into a commercial land. He talked of taking into consideration the decision of his Cabinet and the Congress should they agree on the said reform, allotting a portion for tourism and the rest for land reform area.
“Ituloy na lang, ibigay natin sa tao, to make everybody more innovative and to produce more for the country,” he ended.
