Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano attended the opening of the 72nd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) General Debate headed by His Excellency Miroslav Lajčák of Slovakia as President, at the UN Headquarters in New York, United States of America.
Secretary Cayetano participated in the said event as a representative of the Government of the Philippines, being a member country of the United Nations (UN). He joined several Heads of State/Government and senior foreign representatives from other UN member nations, as they exchanged views on pressing world issues.
According to the UN website (www.un.org), among the points included in the provisional agenda of the 72nd UNGA are economic growth, peace and security, development of Africa, human rights, humanitarian assistance efforts, justice and international law, disarmament, drug control, crime prevention and combatting international terrorism, and other administrative matters.
