President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graced the opening ceremony of the 6th Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Accredited National Convention of Public Attorneys at the Tent City in Manila Hotel.

In his message, the President called on the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) lawyers to uphold the interests of the Filipino people and to set aside their own. “As you begin your courses today, you also keep in mind that as a public attorney, you shall provide your legal skills not for fame nor for profit, but for the protection of the weak and the vulnerable,” he said.

The convention, organized by PAO Head Dr. Persida V. Rueda-Acosta, follows the legal requisites mandated on its public attorneys the required 36 hours of continuing legal education activities without costs to its lawyers. This is to ensure PAO lawyers to be “abreast with law and jurisprudence, maintain the ethics of the profession, and enhance the standards of the practice of law.”
