President Rodrigo Roa Duterte received President Maithripala Sirisena of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in his first State Visit to the Philippines during the official welcome ceremony at the Kalayaan Grounds in Malacañang.

In the ceremony, President Duterte and President Sirisena introduced their respective delegations. Thereafter, the two (2) leaders proceeded to Malacañan Palace where President Sirisena signed the guest book.

President Sirisena’s five-day State Visit strengthens the diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and the Philippines spanning 58 years. He is the first Sri Lankan leader, serving as both Head of State and Government, to visit the Philippines.
