Official Visit of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan to the Philippines

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan, together with his wife Madame Akie Abe, embarks on a two-day official visit to the Philippines from January 12-13, 2017.
The visit aims to further elevate bilateral relations and strengthen the strategic partnership between Japan and the Philippines.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and witness the signing of several agreements and memoranda of cooperation. Both leaders are set to deliver their messages in their joint press statements. The Japanese Head of Government is also set to be hosted a state banquet at Malacañan Palace by the Philippine President.
The Prime Minister’s spouse, Madame Akie Abe, visits the Philippine National School for the Blind (PNSB) in Pasay City.
On the second day of his official visit, the Prime Minister will be welcomed into the private residence of President Duterte in Davao City.
Prime Minister Abe is the first foreign leader to visit the Philippines under the administration of President Duterte.
