President Rodrigo Roa Duterte called on the newly appointed government officials to uphold good governance, transparency and accountability in all government transactions during a mass oath-taking ceremony at the Rizal Hall in Malacañan Palace.

“As you take your oath of office today, keep in mind that there would be greater challenges ahead. I therefore hope that your mandate will inspire you to boost the morale, promote efficiency and integrity, and raise the standards of public service in your respective offices,” President Duterte said.

The Chief Executive likewise urged the newly appointed officials to remain committed in pursuing the administration’s development agenda, and to serve as partners in government as the administration intensifies its fight against illegal drugs, criminality, terrorism, corruption and other social ills.

“Let me reiterate that for this administration, the welfare of our people and the improvement of their lives are of utmost importance,” he said.

About 280 newly appointed government officials took their oath of office to occupy various seats in government agencies as well as in several government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs).
