Study Room, Malacañan Palace

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. administered the oath of office to newly appointed National Innovation Council (NIC) Executive Members in a ceremony at the Study Room in Malacañan Palace.

The oath takers comprised the following:

1. Ria Liza C. Canlas – Executive Member, Representative from the Scientific Community

2. Mark Sultan D. Gersava – Executive Member, Representative from the Micro-Small and Medium Enterprise Sector

3. Monchito B. Ibrahim – Executive Member, Representative from the Business Sector

4. Earl Martin S. Valencia – Executive Member, Representative from the Business Sector

Created in 2019, the National Innovation Council (NIC) is a 25-member policy advisory board in the Philippines with the President serving as Chair, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary as Vice Chairperson, 16 Department Secretaries and seven (7) Executive Members from the private sector.

It is tasked to develop the country’s innovation goals, priorities and long-term national strategy.
