President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. administered the oath of office to the newly elected National Officers of the Vice Mayor’s League of the Philippines (VMLP) in a ceremony at the President’s Hall in Malacañan Palace.

As purveyors of bureaucracy and public service, the President urged the VMLP officials and members to support the Administration’s legislative priorities as the government continues to lay down the strategies of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028 towards achieving economic transformation.

“As you assume your new roles in the VMLP, take to heart that this is not just a measure of achievement in our individual public service careers, but a test and great challenge that we must hurdle and surmount,’ he conveyed in his speech.

President Marcos Jr. reiterated the significance of strengthened cooperation between the national government and all local government units (LGUs) in ensuring that a whole-of-government approach is implemented to carry out the government’s plan and policies that will benefit the Filipinos.

“You are crucially involved in the whole process of ensuring the alignment of local priorities with the national development agenda and implementing transformative public services through high-impact local legislation,” the Chief Executive said, reassuring the LGUs of the Administration’s commitment for an effective and meaningful local autonomy.v

The VMLP is an organization that serves as a platform for vice mayors from different LGUs nationwide promoting collaboration, knowledge-sharing and collective action aimed at addressing common issues and promote effective local governance.
