The Novodevichy Convent, or the Bogoroditse-Smolensky Monastery, is one of Moscow’s most visited attractions. Designed to differ from the ancient maidens’ convent within Moscow Kremlin, it has remained virtually intact since the 17th century. In 2004, the monastery was proclaimed a UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage Site.
